The Gardens of Étretat are among the most photographed natural sites in Europe. Perched on the Normandy cliffs that captivated Monet, they were redesigned in 2016 as gardens of art and experimentation: a succession of hand-trimmed topiaries, sculptures, and vistas that make the site a destination in its own right for lovers of contemporary art and landscape design.
To celebrate their 6th anniversary, Les Jardins commissioned Studio Artera to design a nighttime artistic experience worthy of the venue. The brief was demanding: to engage with this exceptional setting without compromising its essence, and to create something that exists nowhere else.
Studio Artera commissioned Romain Lalire to design *Éclipse*, an immersive installation created exclusively for the Gardens of Étretat. The artist, a leading figure in France in the fields of digital art and holographic performance, has created a multi-stage nighttime experience: light installations hidden within the topiary, holographic anamorphic effects visible from specific vantage points, and a soundscape that creates an atmosphere somewhere between the tangible and the intangible.
Overnight, the garden was transformed into a complete stage.
The event brought together trade press and carefully selected guests, and was captured on photo and video—media that had been planned from the outset as a communication tool for the Gardens.
