AMGEN x Romain Lalire

Project background

AMGEN, a world leader in biotechnologies, wanted to continue its "Peau dans l'Art" project, where Art and Medicine intertwine, by offering international practitioners a new experience at the Journées Dermatologiques de Paris to highlight the burden of psoriatic disease and develop empathy for those affected.

The realization

For this major event in our client's calendar, Romain Lalire worked for several months on a large-scale project to offer visitors to the show a unique two-part immersive experience.

A video section on a giant screen, with dancer Julien Gaillac moving with grace and power to interpret a patient's journey through the vicissitudes of psoriasis, a disease affecting almost 125 million people worldwide.

Every movement is studied, every detail sculpted by light. The music, specially composed for this performance, identifies each phase of the disease, from the crescendo of symptoms to soothing moments of temporary remission. The dance then becomes a poignant mirror: slowing down during flare-ups, soaring up again when treatments bring relief.

The second part of the installation is a 9m2 box set up in the center of the AMGEN stand. Equipped with wireless headphones featuring binaural sound (guaranteeing totally natural, three-dimensional sound reproduction), the user enters a square-shaped room, for the ultimate immersive experience.

Particles of light, projected shapes and bursts of color are sent directly onto the hands and body using LED video projectors and motion sensors, accompanying the box participant in his or her perception of the disease.
