In the spirit of the legacy of the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games, the City of Paris has launched a major campaign to upgrade its local sports facilities. The goal is to make sport a vehicle for art and social cohesion in neighborhoods.
It was in this context that Studio Artera won the call for projects for the transformation of the Léo Lagrange physical education field, located in the 12th arrondissement. The challenge involved the complete refurbishment of two outdoor handball courts, covering a total area of 1,600 m².
The aim was to redesign this asphalted space to turn it into a visual destination, without compromising its primary function: sports.
To decorate this monumental surface, we invited artist Caroline Derveaux to deploy her colorimetric and architectural universe.
The result is an XXL floor mural that blends sporting excellence with the freedom of urban art.
Across these 1,600 square meters, regulation playing lines interact with bold geometric shapes to reinvent the match experience. The artwork transforms the court into a space of collective energy where sport and culture literally meet beneath the players' sneakers.
Thispublic art installation goes beyond mere aesthetics: it creates a gathering place for athletes, residents, and passersby.
By taking art out of museums and anchoring it in the asphalt of the 12th arrondissement, Studio Artera and Caroline Derveaux have created a project in which the city becomes a vibrant and inclusive playground.
