The Hôtel de Sully, a sumptuous private mansion listed as a historic monument since 1862, is home to the headquarters of the Centre des Monuments Nationaux (CMN), whose mission is to enhance, restore and promote France's architectural heritage.
From Lynn Chadwick and her sculptures for Art Basel 2024, to designer Paul Cocksedge and his immersive garden installation, to Isabelle Stanislas and her interior architectural installations, the Hôtel de Sully is a place where the heritage of the site meets contemporary art. An important place for artists to present their work in a place steeped in history.
It was with this aim of bringing art to life and encouraging the discovery of new works of art for everyone and for the teams on site that the Hôtel de Sully called on Studio Artera to work on certain common areas.
For this collaboration, Studio Artera invited French artist Diane Benoit du Rey to work directly on the glass with two custom-made pieces.
Diane Benoit du Rey's work explores oil painting with authenticity and depth. Her fluid, moving pictorial universe captures the eye and guides it through harmonious gradations of color.
By interacting with light, she turns it into a lively, subtly colored material that enhances this place steeped in history.
