In the run-up to Christmas, we spoke to five inspiring personalities about themselves, their backgrounds and their selection of Studio Artera favorites they'd love to have under the tree.
"On my Christmas list this year, I've chosen..."
My name is Binkady-Emmanuel Hié, I'm 30 and I live in Paris. Since September 2021, I've started a new adventure as a freelancer: I now devote myself to representing artists (especially dancers) and consulting on issues of diversity, inclusion and representativeness.
My first memory of ballet dates back to a live broadcast of an evening of Nederland Dans Theater (Netherlands) in a Paris cinema, 9 or 10 years ago. That day, I realized that this was the world to which I wanted to devote my time and energy.
It would be difficult to name just a handful, so many have thrilled me in their own way. But if I had to name just one, it would be Pina Bausch's Rite of Spring, to the score by Igor Stravinsky. I think it's the work of art that has most deeply moved, marked and inspired me in my entire life.
I'd say Emotion - Sharing - Message
I have selected three works by Raphaële Anfré:
- Femininity drapery n°1
- Feminine drapery n°2
- Femininity amplified
Growing up, my own share of femininity (or at least the set of characteristics that society generally attributes to the feminine) was a very taboo subject for me. Femininity is often belittled, likened to weakness, as opposed to virility. Raphaël Anfré's work celebrates femininity in a colorful, poetic way. That's what appealed to me.
