‍How toreconcile well-being and work in the workplace thanks to art?

Inflation, the war in Ukraine, the health crisis and successive confinements are just some of the factors that have been putting a strain on employee morale in French companies for over two years now. Various initiatives of varying lengths have been put in place by HR departments, executives and managers to alleviate this suffering, without really addressing the underlying problem.

Even before the onset of this crisis, numerous scientific and social studies have investigated the psychological and aesthetic benefits of art in the workplace. For example, according to the British Journal of Psychiatry, being exposed to art several times a year reduces our chances of falling into depression by 32%. Yet, in reality, very few companies rely on art to motivate, innovate, stimulate creativity and strengthen employees' sense of pride. And yet... according to our experience in daily contact with companies at Studio Artera and various very encouraging scientific studies cited in a 2019 WHO summary report on the benefits of art, the arts have been found to promote pro-social behavior, prolonged attention and group identity. Similarly, art has been shown to help strengthen social cohesion by developing cognitive abilities. Artistic practice or contact with artworks is also said to substantially reduce conflict by fostering empathy, trust and commitment, while creating more cooperative relationships between collaborators.

Bringing art into your business

Art, in addition to being a strong vector of key values for a company, is an essential means of rethinking coworking spaces and making them places of conviviality where teams want to stay, to anchor themselves for the long term. Workspaces are unifying and differentiating places when they become inspiring and enhance day-to-day well-being, promoting employee pleasure and productivity. According to JLL, 70% of employees believe that the design of their workplace enhances their performance.

As part of our commitment to corporate well-being, we believe that art should permeate the daily lives of our teams.

Artistic activations can take the form of inspirational artist talks, on-site art installations, live performances, workshops or frescoes. We also believe it's essential that the artistic choice is consistent with the company's culture and project. As a result, it will spontaneously find its place in the space and be better understood by employees. To achieve this, it is necessary to find artists whose personality and artistic universe can resonate with the DNA of the partner company, and to work with the company to devise a mediation strategy that is consistent with the message it wishes to convey.

At Studio Artera, we design, create and produce immersive artistic content using new forms of storytelling to help companies meet these major challenges, while respecting their values.

From the installation of artworks for the Morning co-working space, to a fresco several meters high inside the offices, like Mathias Bensimon 's work for the Altarea Cogedim headquarters, there's an artistic solution for every company.
