Béatrice Bissara: painting, installations, and research on consciousness

Béatrice Bissara is a multimedia artist whose practice spans painting, sculpture, kinetic installations, and light installations. Her central theme: the Anthropocene. Inspired by this artistic movement theorized by art historian Paul Ardenne—referencing the current geological era marked by the impact of human activities on ecosystems—she infuses her works with textures, colors, and rhythms that evoke the living world in flux.

Research supported by the CNRS

What sets Bissara apart in the contemporary art scene is her grounding in scientific research. She is supported in her work by two CNRS researchers who study the effects of art on states of consciousness: concentration, self-awareness, and creativity. This experimental dimension gives her installations a significance that extends beyond the purely aesthetic realm: her works are designed to alter the inner state of the viewer.

Unique kinetic and pulsating devices

Among his most distinctive creations are the "dreamboxes": pulsating light boxes that mimic a heartbeat and breathing, inviting the viewer to synchronize with another invisible organism. These kinetic devices, found in private collections in France and the United States, have been exhibited at major American art fairs: Scope Art Miami Beach, SOFA New York, Park Avenue Armory, and the Chicago SOFA Show.

In October 2022, Béatrice Bissara will take over the Château des Tourelles for the largest solo exhibition of her career.

The works of Béatrice Bissara: when art invites meditation

Since 2005, the artist's bronze collections, paintings and installations have been exhibited in France and internationally in private collections and galleries. Every year since 2007, she has exhibited her work at numerous fairs on the American continent, including Scope Art - Miami Beach, Palm Beach, Art and Antique Show, Sofa New York, Park Avenue Armory - New York, Miami Art Show and Chicago SOFA Show.Objects of art and contemplation, psychic totems and fragments of consciousness, Béatrice Bissara's works fit perfectly into living spaces and are authentic meditative portals that evolve with the rhythm of the day for the home or office, guaranteeing an authentic bubble of serenity in everyday life. A true craftswoman, she is always on the lookout for new mediums to explore and perfect, with the aim of offering the public a wide variety of textures, colors and materials to highlight her favorite themes and create powerful, immersive universes that allow you, in a matter of seconds, to connect with reality.
